Archbishops' Pastoral Letter on Marriage 11th March > download < | Petition for Marriage The Government’s imminent consultation on changing the definition of marriage is of great concern. As Catholics we are encouraged by our Bishops to participate in the consultation and make our objection known. A change in the meaning of ‘marriage’ would remove any reference to begetting and bringing up children. | see also 'Westminster2010' here

You can tell the Government directly if you oppose its plans to redefine marriage. The public consultation on same-sex marriage closes on Thursday 14 June. C4M is encouraging people to respond only to questions 1 & 2, which ask whether you agree or disagree with the plans in principle.
You can use this form to do so. There are several other detailed questions which do not deal with the core issue. info panel above | Petition for Marriage

The 46th World Day of Social Communications will be celebrated on 20 May 2012, the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord. This is the day when Catholics are asked to reflect on the necessity of fulfilling the command of Jesus to preach the Good News of the Gospel to the whole world. A key to communicating with "the whole world" is the world of the media and its demands for news relating to every aspect of the life of the Church and its people.
Pope Benedict XVI has recognised the positive and enriching role some websites, applications and social networks can play in providing people with the "time for reflection and authentic questioning" in their lives. In his message for this year's World Communications Day, the Holy Father says: "In concise phrases, often no longer than a verse from the Bible, profound thoughts can be communicated, as long as those taking part in the conversation do not neglect to cultivate their own inner lives." His message, released on the Feast of St Francis de Sales, Patron Saint of Journalists, reflects on the relationship between word and silence: "When word and silence become mutually exclusive, communication breaks down, either because it gives rise to confusion or because, on the contrary, it creates an atmosphere of coldness; when they complement one another, however, communication acquires value and meaning." more
